Marriage

Marriage is the Sacrament by which a man and woman are bound to each other for life in a union which is total, faithful, and open to new life. Through Marriage, a husband and wife give themselves to each other for life and are given the grace to remain together for life. In their communion with each other, there is the beautiful opportunity for welcoming a family and for the spouses to help get themselves and their children to Heaven. The special grace of the Sacrament of Matrimony allows a husband and wife in their own marriage to mirror the love of Christ the Bridegroom for His Church!

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601
